Responsible for the operation of the Reno County sewer and water districts to KDHE and EPA standards to include all testing and monitoring required by the Kansas water pollution control permits. Performs skilled inspections for the water/sewer districts. Check operational parameters of the sewer and water districts as required. Perform required testing and sample collection for KDHE compliance as required. Keep records for all operational parameters and equipment as required. Skilled inspection of water and sewer service connections. Read all water meters, record readings and complete all associate reporting. Locate water and sewer mains, services and valves for dig-safe requests. Check security of buildings, gates and padlocks at each district. Check each water and sewer system and perform scheduled maintenance as directed to include, flushing water mains, hydrants and sewer mains, maintaining pumps, valves, water wells and sewer treatment equipment to include electrical controls. Responsible for the inventory of all sewer and water districts. Checks and services incoming freight for accuracy before unloading. On call as required for any standby emergency issues with the water and/or sewer districts. Perform emergency operations such as snow and ice removal. Maintain written records as required for completion of daily task sheets. Perform normal cleanup in work areas. Assess, troubleshoot and determine solutions for operational problems at sewer and water districts. Resolve problems relative to position duties and recognize when to ask for assistance from management.
