Maintain and record records of all land descriptions and legal documents concerning the land ownership of Reno County manually and by computer. Assist public with inquires by telephone or in person on informal research, main-in genealogy and provide copies if requested. Assist in recording and processing UCC files and assist Register of Deeds as needed. Manually post legal documents by categorical indexes such as mortgages, deeds and miscellaneous which includes tax liens, powers of attorney, corporations, land contracts, military discharges, easements, dissolutions, oil and gas leases, lease assignments, releases, assignments of mortgages and UCC files. Enter posted information into computer, check all documents to ensure they are property indexed, notarized, signed and contain proper land descriptions. Compare processed documents against computer printout for accuracy. Post documents, submit original deeds to County Clerk for transfer, copy deeds, equitable interests, mergers, death certificates, other miscellaneous documents and submit to Assessor’s office. Check photo copies of original documents for accuracy. Affix Register of Deed seal to original documents, fold and give to Deputy Register of Deeds for further processing. Photocopied pages are numbered and filed in proper permanent record books. Answer telephone inquiries regarding research of status on mortgages, land ownerships, oil and gas researches, UCC searches and miscellaneous questions in a friendly and courteous manner. Assist customers in person to research various information, including genealogy in a friendly and courteous manner. Prepare copies as necessary and/or required. Add pages and title pages for a new plat in the cities, township and range numerical books with Leroy lettering set. Check plat cabinets to maintain hanging plats in order. Check and repair record book pages.
