Skilled manual work, which involves performance of a variety of duties associated with Solid Waste Management Department operations. Work is performed under the direction of a foreman or other supervisory personnel. Mow or trim grass, weeds and other tall growth; cut trees and brush with tractor mowers. Haul, stockpile or dump road materials or debris using dump truck. Operate front-end loader to load truck, move debris or maintain compost windrows. Power broom asphalt surfaces. Maintain written records and daily time sheets. Perform minor maintenance on equipment and assist mechanics in servicing or repairing equipment. Read and interpret grade stakes, pick up loose paper and other debris and train on heavy equipment as time allows. Must be able to report for work outside of the regular scheduled hours including overtime, when necessary to maintain effective operation of the Solid Waste department.
